Takasuji Shinsaku Ceramic Statue
The Takasugi Shinsaku Ceramic Statue is located in Hiyoriyama Park, Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. Takasugi Shinsaku was a prominent figure in the late Edo period, known for founding the Kiheitai militia and playing a key role in the Meiji Restoration. The original bronze statue, erected in 1936, was requisitioned during World War II for its metal. In 1956, to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Takasugi's death, a ceramic statue made of Bizen ware was installed in its place. This statue stands as a tribute to his enduring legacy.
