About

Nisshin Peace Memorial Hall

The Nisshin Peace Memorial Hall, located in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, commemorates the historic peace negotiations of the First Sino-Japanese War. In the spring of 1895, representatives from Japan and Qing China convened at the nearby Shunpanrō Inn to negotiate the Treaty of Shimonoseki, marking the end of the conflict. (shimohaku.jp)

Established in June 1937 adjacent to Shunpanrō, the memorial hall preserves and exhibits artifacts from the negotiations, including furniture used during the meetings, calligraphy by plenipotentiaries Itō Hirobumi and Li Hongzhang, and other significant items. A central feature of the hall is a reconstructed conference room that offers visitors a glimpse into the historical proceedings. (shimohaku.jp)
