Nestled quietly beneath the center of Tokyo in Otemachi lies “NINJA TOKYO.” This is an extraordinary space that invites you away from the bustle of modern life and into a hidden ninja village. When you open the door, you are greeted by flowing waterfalls and a mist-covered pond, giving you the illusion of having wandered into a ninja village from the Sengoku period.
The interior of the restaurant recreates the architectural style of the Azuchi-Momoyama period, with a maze-like design using natural materials. Waterfalls and ponds are placed throughout, making it truly resemble a ninja hideout. The private rooms, guided by staff dressed as ninjas, feel just like secret training grounds. These staff members are also fluent in English and warmly welcome guests from both Japan and abroad.
The cuisine is based on Japanese food, but incorporates essences from various countries to create original dishes. The main course features Omi Sawai beef steak grilled over a stone oven with charcoal, and the set menu is full of surprises and deliciousness. Each dish is crafted with ingenuity, offering delights for both the eyes and the palate.
Between courses, advanced ninjas perform ninjutsu (magic). Professional magicians use Japanese-style table magic to amaze and impress guests. It is recommended to keep photography and video recording to a minimum and fully enjoy the ninjutsu unfolding right before your eyes.
“NINJA TOKYO” first opened in Akasaka in 2001 and, after 22 years, relocated to Otemachi in December 2023.
