Established in 1992 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Himeji's city status, Kōko-en was constructed on the historical site of the former Lord's West Residence. The garden's design incorporates the original layouts of the Edo period, featuring elements such as traditional walls, gates, and corridors that connect the various gardens. (himeji-machishin.jp)
Visitors can enjoy seasonal flora throughout the year, including cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, vibrant autumn foliage, and serene snow-covered landscapes in winter. The garden also features a tea house, "Sōju-an," where guests can experience traditional Japanese tea ceremonies. (himeji-machishin.jp)
