About

Leaving behind the bustle of Ikebukuro and stepping onto the 7th floor of the Bunka Kaikan Building in Sunshine City, you will find a different world that transcends time and space. The Ancient Orient Museum opened in 1978 as Japan’s first museum specializing in the ancient Orient. Here, numerous archaeological materials and artworks are exhibited, connecting Eastern and Western civilizations through West Asia, Egypt, and even the Silk Road. (aom-tokyo.com)

As you step into the exhibition room, you are greeted by Mesopotamian bronze ware, painted pottery, and glassware, allowing you to feel the breath of ancient craftsmen. Items unearthed during excavations in Syria are also on display, offering glimpses into the lives and beliefs of people from long ago. (aom-tokyo.com)

The museum regularly holds special exhibitions, lectures, and hands-on workshops, so each visit brings new discoveries. At the museum shop, you can purchase original goods and related books, allowing you to bring the charm of antiquity into your daily life. (aom-tokyo.com)
